more ways to eckso
Variations of Play
Here are instructions for alternate ways to play eckso. Some simply utilize alternate gameplay, others are limited edition versions from our 2026 Kickstarter or are coming soon.
eckso color
Flip the cards in a standard deck to play in color. Although the rules remain exactly the same, many eckso lovers relish the additional pattern-recognition challenge.
See if you can keep track of your symbols long enough to capture one of your opponent's!

eckstra captures
Consider changing the number of captures needed to win. Requiring the capturing of three symbols, for example, leads to the building of a larger, more precarious board that ecksperienced players will find eckstra stimulating.
You can even add scorekeeping for a longer three-round game. Earn a point for each symbol captured; subtract one each time you topple cards. For example, if you agree on three captures to win, topple a couple of cards one one of your moves, then make a play that captures five symbols at once, you end up with four points for that round. Total points in three rounds determines the winner.
Teams (3+ players)
Rules remain the same, and it's still X's versus O's, but you distribute your cards between your team members. On each turn, whichever person sees the best move for their symbol makes it.

eckso eckstreme
Instead of using the entire box as your pedestal, play on the lid alone by balancing it on its two "legs." This eckstra topple-y version requires a completely different strategy to win.
[This special edition lid is currently featured only on our "Deluckso" 3D-printed boxes.]
ecksovert
Play vertically! The magnets in the lid of the 3D-printed box enable you to clamp one card as a base. Sitting across from your opponent, try to capture one of their symbols without toppling the structure.
Rule: you can only win on your own side.

eckso classic
Play on a flat surface, no pedestal. Win with the most symbols captured when all cards have been placed. Two rounds constitutes one game, with each player going first once to eliminate the last-mover's advantage.
